Six-Month Requirement
We require account statements dated within the last 6 months to process your request. This requirement ensures that the ownership information is current and accurate.
Why We Need Recent Statements
A lot can change in a year:
Account ownership might have changed
Securities could have been sold or transferred
Account numbers might have been updated
The financial institution might have merged or changed systems
Using recent statements protects everyone involved by ensuring we’re working with current, accurate information.
How to Get an Updated Statement
If you don’t have a recent statement, you can usually obtain one by:
Online access: Log into your brokerage account and download a recent statement
Calling your broker: Request they mail or email you a current statement
Visiting a branch: If your broker has physical locations, they can print one for you
Checking your email: Many brokers send monthly statements electronically
Alternative Documents
If you cannot obtain a recent statement, contact us to discuss alternatives. Sometimes we can accept:
A letter from your broker confirming current ownership
A recent trade confirmation showing the account is active
Other official documents from your financial institution
